Comic Book Boycott of the Day: Conservative group One Million Moms is at it again, directing its not-quite-a-million members to boycott Marvel and DC Comics due to recent announcements from both companies about their futures of their gay characters.

DC has revealed that a major character is soon going to come out as gay, while Marvel announced the engagement of superhero Northstar to his boyfriend, Kyle.

These events don’t sit will with One Million Moms, whose anti-gay agenda has also led them to protest the wedding of Archie Comics’ first gay character, Kevin Keller.

“Children desire to be just like superheroes,” said the group in a statement. “Children mimic superhero actions and even dress up in costumes to resemble these characters as much as possible. Can you imagine little boys saying, ‘I want a boyfriend or husband like X-Men?’”

The statement goes on to accuse the publishers of trying to “indoctrate [sic] impressionable young minds.”

Marvel and DC have yet to respond to the homophobic comments.

I was looking at the info on Kickstarter and I saw that all the artists get an extra $550 because the pledges has reached over $70,000.  That is really freaking awesome!  Yay for supporting awesome art that also involves awesome smut :D

In other words, stop telling victims that they need to change their actions in order to prevent sexual assault and start teaching perpetrators of sexual violence how to stop dehumanizing, objectifying, and raping other human beings.

To me this depiction of gender is much more accurate, and allows us to label ourselves anywhere on an infinite spectrum. Instead of putting ourselves on fine lines whilst calling anything off the line abnormal, we can be labeled anything therefor allowing any form of gender expression to be considered normal.

Interesting model for viewing gender. 

Lately I’ve been thinking about gender spectrums and if it would be possible to accurately visualize.  I like this model.  I think I’d be somewhere in the grey/yellow-orange border.

And then there was me who never liked the show.
